Automotive Radar

Our key know-how is the design and the development of high performance radar systems, and among those in particular automotive radar devices. We are able to deliver such radars, measuring range, speed and angle of objects (targets) in single- or multi-target situations. Some of our radars, to give an example, are capable of detecting up to 32 targets simultaneously within 10ms.

Our UMRR technology has been licensed by automotive tier one suppliers for series product development.

These multi target capable radars are mainly required for automotive, railway and robotics applications but can be found also in some industrial environments.

We have included tracking algorithms in our radar systems. This allows the precise estimation of additional target data which can not be directly measured, like for instance width and / or acceleration of vehicles.

All automotive radars have frequency approval for:
   - Germany
   - Europe
   - US
   - Canada
   - Japan.

Beside applications which require stand-alone sensor units, the presented technology has ready-to-run software on board for sensor fusion, i.e. the combination of multiple radars, either in a master radar - slave radar setup, or in a satellite radar - central ECU configuration.

Different types of interfaces are available, among those CAN and FlexRay.

A way to classify the radars we can build for you would be the covered field of view, determined by the maximum range and the beam width of the antenna. Here are some examples for you.

Short range radars
- Range from 0.3 up to 22m (customizable)
- Speed interval +-120km/h (customizable)

Medium range radars
- Range from 0.5m up to 70m (customizable)
- Speed interval -500km/h to +250km/h (customizable)

Long range radars
- Range from 1.5m up to 120m/150m/200m (customizable)
- Speed interval -500km/h to +250km/h (customizable)

All radar systems feature our smartcore technology, which allows for easy and safe download of new software via CAN bus, parameter modification etc.

We cover the whole spectrum of radars of short, medium and long range radars. We would like to ask for your understanding that we can not give you all of the information you may require on this web site. Please contact us then. Together we will find out what kind of radar is suitable for your detection tasks, which one can be adapted to your needs and also if you are interested in a new product development.
