SMS supplied sensors to the winner team.
The DARPA Grand Challenge 2005 winning team, Stanford Racing Team, was supplied by SMS with the latest ACC type 24GHz radar sensors. These units scanned the area in front of the race robot up to a range of 200m. This allows for an early detection of potential obstacles which makes a higher traveling speed possible. The robot named “Stanley” traversed 132 miles completely autonomously and was the fastest among all competitors.
