Interfaces

Interfaces:
The application of sensors is quite simple. The only electrical interfaces to be prepared are power supply and a digital data interface that carries the sensor input and output data.

The power supply is usually a single DC voltage, GND and +9...+36V.

The output data content could be one of the following:
   - Automotive applications:
     - detected raw target list
     - tracked object list
     - restraint system firing signal
     - binary “blind-spot-covered” signal
     - etc.
   - Industrial applications:
     - detected raw target list
     - closest target range (presence detection with detection position data)
     - single target speed (like for a traffic radar)
     - position of detected moving object (for surveillance radar)
     - etc.

In specific applications, certain input data have to be transmitted to the sensor (example: ego speed in automotive applications).

All sensors feature at least one of the following data interfaces:
   - CAN Bus V2.0b (passive)
   - RS 232 Serial
   - USB 1.1/2.0 (some older sensor models require an adaptor box)
   - SPI
   - FlexRay.

The digital data interface communication is designed for a ready-to-run operation of multiple sensors in a sensor network.

To download new software versions, our SmartCore technology is implemented in all devices. Customers have the possibility to flash the devices on site using the free Drive Recorder II Software.
