Frequency Approval

SMS radar technology has been developed to comply with international frequency allocation rules in the 24GHz ISM band. Formal approval documents can be achieved in a large number of countries and are already available for important regions. The used bandwidth is as small as possible but still as large as required for the intended applications.

European Standards:
     - ERC Recommendation 70-03
     - ETSI EN 300-440
US Standards:
     - FCC part 15.209
     - FCC part 15.245
Canadian Standards:
     - RSS-210
Japan:
     - Cat. Y (Specified Low Power Radio Equipment)
       Article 49.14(4)
     - Cat. Q (Radiolocation)

Our sensors comply with the regulations of most countries, among those are (selection): US, Canada, Europe. It complies also with special regulations in France and UK.

Key features:
     - Narrowband operation.
     - 1MHz - 500MHz max. modulation bandwidth (ISM limits:
       250MHz, narrower bandwidth may be
       required for certain regions).

Tests are carried out by Cetecom ICT Services GmbH, accredited by:
     - FCC
     - Industry Canada
     - German Accreditation Council
     - ETSI.

This note is only of relevance for automotive applications:
The SMS radar technology uses narrowband solutions and therefor is not affected by the SARA “package solution” . Licensing for series development and production is possible without restrictions regarding production date and/or number of equipped vehicles. See more.
